Delhi Law Mininster Jitender Singh Tomar arrested: Highlights of what happened so far

Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar was arrested in New Delhi on Tuesday over his alleged fake law degree. The AAP cried foul and linked it with its anti-corruption campaign. Delhi Police, which does not report to the AAP government but to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and the Union Home Ministry, said that Tomar was arrested on charges of cheating, criminal conspiracy and forgery. Delhi assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel said he wasn't informed about the arrest. AAP press conference Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia accused Lt. Governor Jung of unleashing an "Emergency-like situation" and said vested interests were ganging up against the AAP government because of its anti-corruption campaign. The AAP, he vowed, won't be cowed down by such actions.

J&K: Mufti Govt terms 100-day rule a success, battles empty treasuries

Terming the 100-day of Mufti Mohmmad Sayeed government rule a "success", Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today said the J&K government was "setting the stage right" for good governance during the period even as the state is battling with empty treasuries. "The 100 days of our rule was setting the stage right for ensuring good governance. There were some controversial issues which impacted the governance, but we resolved all the issues and these 100 days I can firmly say was successful," Singh said here at a conference on the completion of 100 days of government today.

Yogendra Yadav attacks Modi govt on corruption issue

Former AAP leader Yogendra Yadav has said Narendra Modi Government's claim of scam-free rule is questionable when anti-corruption watchdogs are unable to function with full strength. He also alleged that Modi government was "ashamedly anti-farmer" and its policies were no different from Manmohan Singh government, leading the country on the same "disastrous" path, only at a much faster pace. Yadav alleged that the government has not shown much will to take on corruption. "It is a government that does not understand the democratic autonomy of institutions and it has not shown much of a will to take on corruption and institute transparency. It doesn't even understand the challenge of education and health and employment which are big concerns of our country," he alleged.

Karnataka too bans manufacture, sale of Maggi

Karnataka on Sunday became the latest state to ban manufacture and sale of Nestle's Maggi noodles following a central food watchdog directive. "The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) directed us to temporarily stop Nestle India from manufacturing or selling its noodles, including variants, in the state as a precautionary measure to ensure public health," state Health Minister U.T. Khader told IANS.
