MyGov holds 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' Contest: Explained

To promote India's culture, MyGov on Sunday, Nov 29, launched 'EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' contest. To involve more participants in its novel initiative, it has announced that winners will get  attractive cash prizes and a certificate by Prime Minister Narendra Modi!

On Saturday, Oct 31, 2015, on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, PM Modi announced that the 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' scheme will bridge the cultural gap in the country and enhance interaction between people living in different states. About 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' scheme The programme aims to give a boost to the existing cultural connect between different parts of the country and enhance interaction between people living in different states.

Conceptually, the idea is that each year one state should connect to any other state in India on a reciprocal basis. To take inputs from Indian citizens, MyGov has introduced the ‘EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' contest. Citizens are invited to submit their ideas and suggestions on how the programme should be structured, so as to encapsulate its true spirit in all its various dimensions and capture the diversity that characterises India. While the citizens are free to submit their ideas in kernel format, they can also expand in detail on the themes and sub-themes. Citizens may consider the following general themes on which to base their ideas, while submitting their entries.

These themes are only indicative and participants are free to include any other points  they deem appropriate.
 1. Identifying role of central government and state governments in implementing the programme.
 2. Identifying the manner in which the governments, civil society and private sector can work together.
 3. Specifying the Use of modern communication tools, including social media.
 4. Documentation of success stories.

 5. Making 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' a people's movement rather than a   government programme.

Participants are encouraged to submit original and innovative ideas. An idea, merely rich in detail but lacking originality, would not score more than a very innovative idea explained briefly. However, if a very innovative idea is also explained in detail, it will naturally score higher. Participants may submit their entries as attached PDF documents while providing a summary of their proposals in the comment section.

Recognition The winners of the contest will be awarded a certificate by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with cash prizes as follows:
 1. First Prize - Rs. 100,000/-
 2. Second Prize - Rs. 75,000/-
 3. Third Prize - Rs. 50,000/-
Deadline The last date for submission is Monday, Nov 30, 2015.

General Guidelines: Participants must be at least 18 years of age as on 1stNovember 2015. This is an individual participation contest and team entries would not be allowed. Participants must be Citizens of India and registered users of MyGov. The length of the entriesshould be limited to 1000 words or less. All prizes are non-transferable.

Evaluation Criteria The submissions will be evaluated on the criteria ofimplementability of the proposals,  originality and innovation in ideas, the breadth and width of the cultural connect envisioned  and use of modern communication tools envisaged.

Every entry would be evaluated on its own merit and while an idea explained in greater detail  has greater salience, a merely detailed entry would not adversely prejudice another  innovative and original idea or entry, but not explained in that greater detail, from being  adjudged better.
