Haryana village celebrates birth of 50 girls

Muktsar, Jul 14: District authorities today celebrated the birth of around 50 girls in the past six months at Danewala village here to create awareness about child sex ratio. On this occasion, mothers of these girls were honoured with appreciation certificates, Deputy Commissioner Jaskaran Singh said. Danewala village has the lowest sex ratio in the district with 559 girls as against 1,000 boys, he said.






"We have decided to celebrate the birthdays of girl child in the villages every month," the Deputy Commissioner said, adding 'Nari chaupal' programmes will also be organised where women will be told about their legal rights.
