Kejriwal praises woman who took on corrupt cop

New Delhi, May 12: "We are proud of you!" This is how Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday praised the young woman whose fight with a corrupt traffic policeman here led to his dismissal. "I alone can't change the system. We all need to work together to battle corruption," Kejriwal said. Kaur complained to Kejriwal that neither did she get a copy of the first information report (FIR) registered by her nor proper medical treatment at the hospital. Kejriwal assured her that a copy of the FIR would be arranged for her soon. He told Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain to ensure that she gets proper medical treatment. Despite being hit by a brick in front of her children, Kaur grappled with the policeman and prevented him from escaping. The shocking incident of bribery and police brutality was caught on camera and triggered outrage. Delhi Police first suspended the head constable and then, after arresting him formally, sacked him from service.
