Uttarakhand: Journalist's house demolished, who exposed corruption

Chief Minister Harish Rawat led-Uttarakhand government reportedly ordered to demolish the house of a journalist, who aired sting on his personal secretary Mohammad Shahid. According to a report published in TOI, the government claimed that journalist Ashok Pandey's home was being demolished as it was built without valid permissions. However, the opposition BJP and media-persons lodged protest against the government's move.

The word human trafficking , I have heard from the movie Murder-2. I came to know from that movie about human trafficking. But I do not know that it was totally real not a reel life. Now-a-days human trafficking is a major problem of all of us . If we go through the official estimates 15 children go missing every hour in India, and there are 8 children which are never found.

Death penalty: CPI leader Raja moves private member's resolution

As a debate rages over the hanging of Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon, the Rajya Sabha on Friday admitted CPI leader D. Raja's private member's resolution to abolish the death sentence in the country. A private member's resolution is moved by an individual member and not by the government. "Snatching away somebody's life for crimes committed is not in consonance with the evolving jurisprudence, which embraces in its scope measures to reform the person and transform psychology in tune with the values of compassion and humanism," the resolution by the Communist Party of India parliamentarian read. D. Raja's resolution cites a study by the National Law University students indicating that 94 percent of those awarded death sentences for terror-related cases belonged to the Dalit castes or religious minorities.

Haryana village celebrates birth of 50 girls

Muktsar, Jul 14: District authorities today celebrated the birth of around 50 girls in the past six months at Danewala village here to create awareness about child sex ratio. On this occasion, mothers of these girls were honoured with appreciation certificates, Deputy Commissioner Jaskaran Singh said. Danewala village has the lowest sex ratio in the district with 559 girls as against 1,000 boys, he said.

Delhi Shocker: Domino's Pizza treat becomes nightmare, delivery boy molests 5-year-old girl

A Domino's Pizza delivery boy has been arrested as he has been accused of molesting a 5-year-old girl. The incident took place in Delhi on Sunday, July 12. The accused allegedly had touched the minor girl inappropriately when he had gone to deliver pizza on Sunday morning. The pizza delivery boy was asked to deliver the pizza at the third floor of the building and the victim had gone downstairs to call other members of the family to join them to enjoy the pizza treat.

Vyapam probe will join CBI's 6,562 pending corruption trials

Madhya Pradesh's embattled Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has welcomed the Supreme Court's move to order a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into what has come to be called the Vyapam scam, but with 6,562 corruption cases pending trial, justice through the overstretched agency is unlikely to be quick. The CBI must first investigate the Vyapam case, which will mean tracking down thousands of of suspects and witnesses and following a complex eight-year trail (the scandal first came to light in 2007). After investigation, it must file a charge-sheet. Only then will the case go to trial.

Probably the biggest scam that taints the present governance in the country, Vyapam scam growsn murkier and mysterious by the day. While news reports suggest that there have been 42 deaths till date, the one link that joins all of them is mystery. Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) with the Hindi acronym VYAPAM is a government body responsible for conducting entrance tests in the state to top educational institutes and government offices. Unfortunately, this opportunity was alleged to have given scope to undeserving candidates to get top Jobs at the cost of hefty bribes.
